This course will cover the basics of the art of blacksmithing. Students will learn the basic forging techniques: flattening, rounding, drawing down, upsetting, tapering, bending, punching, and cutting, and cleaning metal after forging.
Once students are comfortable with basic hammer work, they will begin applying techniques to making hooks, decorative 'tree" leaves, then a combination of both. Students' may design an implement. More complex projects are possible as you progress.
