Centrifugal/Spin Casting: December 13

Saturday December 13th
10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Instructor: Eli Zilke

Discover the process of creating glass art through the application of centrifugal force. This technique allows you to craft stunning, one-of-a-kind bowls that are truly works of art. You’ll begin by forming the shape of your bowls in sand, carefully pressing in patterns to design custom “one-use” molds.

Once your molds are ready, you’ll ladle hot glass into them. Then comes the exciting part: spinning the molds to utilize centrifugal force, which shapes the glass as it cools and solidifies. This dynamic process results in unique, beautiful bowls with intricate patterns and textures.

Throughout the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to create several pieces, each reflecting the distinctive qualities of this fascinating technique. Whether you're a seasoned glass artist or a beginner, this experience offers a thrilling way to explore the creative possibilities of glass casting.
